The evolution of Mrs E Creative Services
Up until being made redundant in May 2014 I worked full time in the design industry (apart from an 8 year break where I worked for an opticians – which is a whole nuvver story), firstly in pre-press, as an artworker at a printers and finally for a design studio that shall remain nameless for legal reasons. Fast forward through the job centre, a big knee operation, a summer on crutches, some serious weight gain and some pretty bad times …
After initially offering my services for free to friends, a chance encounter with an old client, an old friend and a temp agency led to me slowly but steadily picking up some work, growing the balls to register freelance and evolving into Mrs E Creative Services.
My first paying client was Whistling Cat Books (an independent local author and publisher), we worked together to increase traffic to the website using social media and local events and to ultimately increase book sales. I also took on a long-term, part-time marketing assistant contract to keep me from going crazy on my own at home. I now offer several local businesses help with design and marketing (traditional & digital) and have a nice little gang of repeat customers.
As Mrs E Creative Services, I can afford to be flexible. I’m open to short and long term contracts and am happy to work both in-house or remotely. One off projects are as welcomed as a year long hang out in your office.
