The evolution of Mrs E Creative Services
Up until May 2014 I worked for a design studio (that shall remain nameless for legal reasons) which specialised in publishing and in particular educational publishing. In fact, by some sheer fluke, my entire design career (apart from an 8 year break where I worked for an opticians – a whole nuvver story) has been in and around the publishing industry.
I love reading. I love books. I love design. You’d think I would have been deliriously happy, end of story. Well no, in nearly twenty years (I know I don’t look old enough) I have come to the conclusion that most of my bosses were bastards and that working for large companies completely sucks. So anyway, the studio formally known as HL went bankrupt (an alarmingly frequent occurrence in my working history) and I found myself suddenly unemployed.
Fast forward through a big knee operation, a summer on crutches, some serious weight gain and some pretty bad times …
Chance encounters with an old client, an old friend and a temp agency led to me slowly but steadily picking up some work, growing the balls to register freelance and evolving into Mrs E Creative Services. I now offer small businesses help with marketing and design (traditional & digital).
